Under the title“Inner Gardens,” the artist couple Réka Schnedarek and Botond Lakatos are presenting their joint exhibition Aranybástya the Aranybástya , which will be on view until the end of summer. The painters share not only their private lives but also their profession, creating a unique harmony with their works on the restaurant’s walls. Both artists earned their degrees in painting from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. Both possess an exceptionally unique perspective: Réka’s works strive to capture the magic of the moment, and her individual details can be interpreted as separate worlds in their own right. Among her key themes are places dear to her, such as the garden and the world of the home. In her own words, this is “a time of blissful dissolution” for her. Botond has developed his distinctive, instantly recognizable artistic world over the past few years. As one of Hungary’s most talented comic book artists, he also thinks in terms of series in his painting. He embeds the ornamental motifs of bygone eras into a contemporary framework with his vibrant color palette and dynamic brushwork. To quote Botond: “The path guided by the ornaments is like the labyrinths of old gardens, lined with symbols, allusions, and riddles.”When placed side by side, the works of Réka Schnedarek and Botond Lakatos reinforce one another: there is a delicate connection between their creations in which the patterns do not appear as subordinate or superior to one another, but rather merge into one another.
