The House

Lónyay-Hatvany-villa

The villa at Lónyay-Hatvany is the home of the Aranybástya in Buda Castle. The site of the villa was once occupied by the Aranybástya defensive structure from the Ottoman period; archaeological excavations beneath it have uncovered medieval walls. The archival photos shown here come from the collections of Fortepan and the Ervin Szabó Library of Budapest and depict the history of the Buda Castle District.
