Traditional Hungarian cuisine in Buda Castle
Aranybástya is a restaurant in Buda Castle, Budapest, serving traditional Hungarian food and grand bourgeois cuisine within the walls of the Lónyay-Hatvany villa. As the gaze rests over Budapest from the terrace, every stone among the historic surroundings evokes a bygone era. The menu aligns with this spirit, presenting traditional Hungarian cuisine in a pure, unadorned form.
The harmony of flavors is captured in the five-course Hungarikum kóstolómenü (Hungarikum tasting menu), available all day. The selection spans from the Négyes fogat üdvözlőital (Négyes fogat welcome drink) to an aranyfalat kacsamájpástétommal (golden bite with duck liver pâté), followed by sültkacsaleves (roast duck soup), borjúpaprikás tojásos nokedlivel (veal paprikash with egg noodle dumplings), and finally a dobostorta (Dobos cake). Later, on the Aranybástya dinner menu, the rich beef gulyásleves (traditional Hungarian goulash soup), prepared with vegetables, csipetke (pinched noodles), and sweet paprika, evokes comforting home-style flavors.
